ITDev is pleased to announce that its Media-over-IP FPGA RX/TX Reference Design has successfully achieved IPMX certification at the Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) second IPMX Product Certification Test Event, held at the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, from 24 to 28 August.
The certified reference design incorporates ITDev's IPMX Receive (RX) and Transmit (TX) FPGA IP cores together with supporting software, providing a ready-to-evaluate platform for organisations developing next-generation media-over-IP products and solutions.
IPMX (Internet Protocol Media Experience) is a suite of open standards and specifications that extends SMPTE ST 2110-based media transport and NMOS-based control into a wider range of applications beyond traditional broadcast. The standard has been developed to address the needs of markets including professional AV, live events, higher education, corporate communications and medical systems, enabling interoperable, high-quality media transport over standard IP infrastructure.
The certified implementation demonstrates support for key IPMX technologies including:
- 4K video transport
- HDMI including EDID management
- NMOS device discovery and control
- Precision Time Protocol (PTP) timing synchronisation
- 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity
Certification of the reference design was carried out using AMD's ZCU106 development platform. While the certified reference design demonstrates these capabilities, ITDev's underlying FPGA IP cores support a broader feature set and can be integrated into a wide range of customer-specific hardware platforms.
Achieving certification validates interoperability with other IPMX-compliant devices and provides customers with confidence that ITDev's technology aligns with industry-led open standards. As adoption of IP-based media architectures continues to accelerate, interoperability is becoming increasingly important for system integrators, OEMs and end users seeking flexible, multi-vendor solutions.
"Achieving IPMX certification is an important milestone for ITDev and demonstrates our commitment to open, interoperable media networking standards. By certifying our FPGA-based reference design, we've shown that OEMs can confidently build products using our IPMX technology, knowing it has been independently tested alongside other solutions within the ecosystem. We believe IPMX will play a key role in the future of professional AV and related markets, and we're excited to help customers accelerate their adoption of these technologies." from Phil Chilton, Commercial Manager.
The certification reflects ITDev's continued investment in open standards-based media networking technologies and reinforces its commitment to helping customers accelerate the development of IPMX-enabled products. By providing FPGA IP cores, software, and reference designs that simplify implementation, ITDev enables equipment manufacturers to reduce development effort and bring interoperable media-over-IP solutions to market more quickly.
With it's various fields of application, IPMX is helping to drive the next generation of flexible and scalable media systems. ITDev's certified IPMX technology provides a proven foundation for organisations looking to adopt these emerging standards and deliver high-performance media transport over IP networks.
