Mike
Software Engineer
MEng - Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University College London
I started my career as a Digital Design engineer with Siemens Plessey Systems on the Isle of Wight, before working for Roke Manor Research in Hampshire for three years.
At Roke I was involved in IP routers and early 3G basestation hardware development.
After Roke, I returned to the Island, and worked at BAE Systems (which had acquired parts of Siemens Plessey Systems) on a state-of-the-art radar for the Royal Navy.
A few years later I joined a start-up company on the Isle of Wight, RF Engines Ltd., who were developing high performance RF signal processing IP cores for FPGA.
I later moved into Software Engineering, working at a video games company on the Isle of Wight, Stainless Games, specialising in 3D graphics programming.
Most recently I have spent ten years working for Rheinmetall, who had aquired RF Engines Ltd., during which the company moved from a design services model to design and production of driver-assistance camera systems for military vehicles.
In my spare time I like to tinker with retro technology, especially 80's vintage computers, but also often tackle DIY jobs with varying degrees of success.
