South Coast Tech Awards Trophy

ITDev was excited to attend the first South Coast Technology Awards on Thursday 5th December at the Ageas Bowl. A much needed celebratory awards for a sector which the South Coast is particularly strong in. This was clearly demonstrated by the attendance of over 250 attendees from 20 companies across the region at the inaugural evening. Having been nominated as Finalists in the 'Tech Employer' category, there was much anticipation for success, this being our second awards evening of the year. The guest speaker and presenter, Spencer Kelly,  gave some wonderful insights into his career as well as highlights from his time presenting the BBC programme 'Click'. Spencer has travelled the world seeking not only the most advanced tech but the most simple devices which make a huge difference to our everyday lives. Spencer's sense of humour and wit shone through, making for both a funny and engaging introduction to the evening.

Spencer then announced the start of the award presentations and the sense of anticipation on the ITDev table was high. Luckily we didn't have long to wait for the 'Tech Employer' announcement and we're delighted to share the news that we have been chosen as Winner of this category. The team took great pleasure in  accepting the award from Spencer and Hannah, who was representing Sanderson, the category sponsors; a fitting end to one of our busiest years with our largest team ever.

More good news came in the form of the amount of money raised for Wetwheels the Award's charity partner, a fantastic organisation which gives disabled people access to the sea by using modified powerboats. Rumour has it that over £4000 was raised from the evening!

Our congratulations to all the other Winners and Finalists - we're looking forward to the continued success of the South Coast Tech Awards in future years.
